Charla

Founder, Chief Inspiration Officer & Master of Coin

An entrepreneur from a young age it was only a matter of time before Charla started her own business. Charla moved to the Bow Valley in 1998 after studying Hotel Management in Canada and abroad (Finland, of all places). The majestic Canadian Rockies were the perfect location to put that education into practice. What began as “I’m only staying for 6 months”, quickly turned into “why would I live anywhere else?”. In 2002, Charla purchased her first vacation rental property in Canmore. By late 2005 she added a second mountain investment property. Rockies Rentals was officially launched in 2008, and was quickly followed by many more properties.

These days, Charla travels extensively. She is usually travelling between Alberta and Ontario, but enjoys heading to international destinations as often as she can. Charla is Chief of Operations and our numbers geek! She loves to innovate and keep the properties fresh and interesting. Her care and attention to detail will provide you with a superior holiday experience. Charla is always on the lookout for the best technology to keep everything running smoothly.

Sean

King of Signals

Sean graduated from Hotel & Restaurant Management in Ontario, Canada in 1998. He moved to the Bow Valley days after graduating, because he had accepted a position with Canadian Pacific Hotels (now the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel). After excelling in Food & Beverage Management positions Sean followed his true passion, a position in the Information Technology Department. Sean has worked internationally as a computer geek and has now returned to his mountain home in Canmore.

As our in-house Geek, Sean makes certain that our Canmore properties are decked out with super fast internet, stereos, and more. His goal is to make our rentals perfect for people working from home while staying in Canmore. Maintaining the technology at Rockies Rentals is almost a full-time job, so we’re grateful to have our own “Technology Whisperer”. Sean can usually be heard saying “have you tried turning it off and on again?”.

Kristina

Director of First Impressions

Kristina has spent the last decade adventuring her way across Canada. She gained certifications in many different outdoor skills, and her introduction to the tourism industry was as a whitewater and zip-line guide. Originally from Ontario, a job teaching whitewater canoeing after College brought her west. After living in British Columbia and making the switch to a desk job – working for a large utility – Kristina decided to make the move to Canmore for family. She loves "the vibe" in Canmore for a lot of the same reasons you've probably chosen to visit. Her love of organization, combined with a background in customer service has made Kristina an invaluable part of the Rockies Rentals team. She’s happy to have a positive impact on people’s dream trips without spending her day trying to keep them from padding over a waterfall. Or un-clipping themselves from a restraint 40 feet in the air.

Kristina is the first point of contact for many of our visitors. She takes many of the reservations and answers guest and owner questions. Behind the scenes she arranges maintenance and cleaning, writes blogs and social media posts, coordinates with our vendors and tour partners, and keeps the rest of the team operating efficiently.

Sawyer

Property Improvement Technician, Executive Porter

Originally from Fort McMurray, Sawyer’s passion for music and technology led him to Vancouver BC where he completed an Audio/Visual production program and laid on the beach. While this filled his heart with joy, he knew what would really make him happy would be to have a livable paycheck. This led him back to his lovely hometown to enroll in a 4th class Power Engineering course through BCIT and Syncrude Canada. Combining his varied education and his extensive experience working at hospitality venues in Banff for the last decade has given him all the knowledge required to maintain beautiful vacation properties...which includes solving any of those fun unforeseen issues that come up from time to time. When not on the tools or fulfilling Houseman duties after check-outs, you can find Sawyer BBQ’n with his cats in the sun or riding a motorcycle somewhere nice. Life is good!

Sawyer is the presence felt by all but rarely seen. He takes care of most of the maintenance concerns and upgrades needed that arise at any of our properties- we can't list them all, there isn't room. He is always looking for better ways to keep our properties in tip top shape, and even inspects after our cleaning contractors on occasion.

Carlee

Cleanliness Optimization Specialist

Originally from Guelph, Ontario, Carlee took a trip out to Calgary in her teenage years and first visited Banff. As soon as she saw the mountains she knew that she needed to move here. After finishing school she made it her mission to get a job in the Bow Valley and start her new life. In 2014 she got a summer job as a horse back trail guide in Banff and excitingly booked her one way ticket. When the summer came to an end she knew that she couldn’t leave so started working at a ski resort. After bouncing around to through seasonal jobs she found her way into hospitality and found her passion in cleaning.
Being a very outdoorsy person, Carlee quickly got into hiking in the summer months and skiing in the winter. On her days off you will probably find her outside somewhere in the woods or on the ski hill. She grew up riding horses and is a huge animal lover.

Carlee is the heart and soul of our cleaning operations. She cleans, inspects, and sets the standard that we hold our contractors and cleaning staff to. She takes great pride in her work, right down to how quickly (and beautifully) she folds a fitted sheet.

Jenny

Dream Implementation Facilitator

Born and raised in the Philippines, in 2010 she decided to find her great adventure in Canada. She worked in the Healthcare field for 3 years and changed to a Hospitality career when she moved to Canmore, Alberta. She totally fell in love with the industry and became very passionate about serving guests. Canmore is popular tourist destination where the stress level and demand from tourists is way beyond your expectation, which gave her an adrenaline rush to push herself to the highest level of customer service. Her goal is make every guest experience to go above and beyond. She really loves to be at work, but if she is truly taking time off she enjoys having coffee with friends or re-connecting with nature; camping and hiking will be the first on the list. She loves travelling and rediscovering beautiful places in Canada, always wondering what's the next adventure will bring.

Jenny is one of the cheerful voices you'll hear if you call the Rockies Rentals office. She's a first point of contact for many of our guests by taking bookings and answering any and all of your questions.

Athira

Dream Implementation Facilitator

Athira was born in Bahrain, where she lived until the age of 9 before moving back to India where she completed secondary school. In 2018 she moved to Canada and began as a Software designing understudy in Ontario. After finishing 2 semesters, she observed that her affection lies in Hospitality and she changed her course of study to Hospitality and Hotel Operations Management. Intrigued by the various professions a someone specializing in customer service can accomplish, she attempted vocations in Bartending, Serving and so forth. In 2020, she went on an outing to Banff with her partner and became intrigued by the mountains and decided to return once her school wrapped up. She arrived at Canmore close to the end of 2021 and began her career as a Front Desk specialist which gave her the experience to join our team. In her spare time she gets a kick out of the chance to marathon watch exemplary motion pictures and partake in a day of barbecuing and yammer with her companions.
